A new brand, a fresh beginning is quite appropriately the initial storyline for Aston Martin F1. Having roped in Sebastian Vettel to partner Lance Stroll, the team will look to create an immediate impact on the grid.
Aston Martin is also due to launch its AMR21 car on March 3, which is bound to create excitement for F1 enthusiasts. Much like any other team, the company are looking forward to Bahrain testing to get a first feeling of what their machinery is all about.
But off the grid, the recently created F1 team will also want to build a connection with its most loyal supporters. Hence the #IAMF1 trend, headlined by new recruit Vettel, lays the foundation to seeing interested racing fans help the team ‘write their new chapter’.
‘It’s the start of a new chapter for myself and the team’, said Sebastian Vettel
Speaking to the team’s media crew, Vettel stated, “Well it’s a new beginning, it’s the start of a new chapter I think for myself, but also for the team. So I think there’s a lot that we share.”
With a free-to-join membership account, fans will apparently be able to get access to the team’s latest news, exclusive experiences and merchandise drops, among others. Given that supporters are the heart and soul of any sport, Aston Martin will aim to hit the right notes among theirs.
A statement from the team’s website reads, “#IAMF1 is our official, free-to-join membership programme – but it’s also so much more. This is a platform for fans to share their voice and be a part of a global network of passionate, active individuals led here by passion for our sport and the values we uphold.”
The Silverstone-based team missed out on P3 in the 2020 season
Racing Point, as they were formerly known, faced immense disappointment when they lost out on P3 last year. In the final race of the season at Abu Dhabi, Sergio Perez’s retirement coupled with Stroll’s P9 was not enough, as McLaren took home third.
But with a new season on the horizon, and cars largely similar with its 2020 version, Aston Martin’s objectives remain the same. It has capable enough resources and personnel, and so will thus hope to cheer their fans up with some top-notch results.
