Sony ended its PlayStation 5 showcase with a quick tease for what seems to be a follow-up to the highly-lauded God of War reboot on the PS5. Beyond the year — 2021 — we don’t yet know much about the title. It seems reasonable to assume that Kratos, along with Sony Santa Monica, will both make a return, however. The follow-up will likely continue pulling on Norse mythology as well.
A Ragnarok-focused sequel makes sense; not only has it been teased before, God of War left plenty of room for another game in that world. In our review of the 2018 game, which focused on an older and wiser Kratos, we said that the reboot had “plenty of gore, but now the guts have meatiness.”
God of War will also be a part of the newly-announced PlayStation Plus collection on the PS5. Sony’s next-gen console is out Nov. 12 for $499, or $399 without the optical disc drive.
