Interestingly, he also became the second teenager to finish as the runner-up in Miami after his idol Rafael Nadal.
In a recent interview, Jannik Sinner revealed his experience training with Rafael Nadal. He mentioned that his practice with the World No. 3 player was one of his best experiences.
“With Rafa, it was maybe one of the best experiences,” began Sinner. “Practicing with the guy who won 20 Grand Slams before a Grand Slam, it’s a huge honor for me knowing him better and knowing his team better.”
Sinner and Nadal hit the nets together right before the Australian Open 2021. It was surely a great honor for the 19-year-old, and it definitely helped him grow a lot as a player.
“A very great person”- Jannik Sinner on Rafael Nadal
Jannik claimed that Nadal is a really humble person. In the short video, he also thanked the Spaniard and his team for choosing him to train with Rafa for two weeks.
“He is very humble, a very great person to everyone. So yeah, for me, it was very great and I would just like to say thanks to him and his team that they chose me to practice with them for two weeks,” added the young Italian player.
It is certainly a once-in-a-lifetime experience for anyone to hit the nets with a legend like Rafa. It must have helped Sinner a lot, and his recent results are testimony to that.
