Kevin Durant doesn't' blame' Danuel House for bubble violation

Kevin Durant feels Danuel House’s pain.

Speaking on “The Joe Budden Podcast” over the weekend, Durant was asked about the Houston swingman’s reported bedroom visit from a female COVID-19 testing official who worked in the bubble. Although the incident resulted in House missing three games against the Lakers and being booted early from Orlando (the Rockets were eliminated shortly after), Durant didn’t object too much to House’s actions.

“If you’ve been in a bubble away from some action for three months? I mean, you can’t blame him, dog,” said Durant, the Nets star who is recovering from a ruptured Achilles and did not partake in the bubble postseason with Brooklyn. “And I heard it was no females at all outside of [COVID testers.] The maids were all men, there was nothing but men around.

“After a couple months, you down 3-1?  Nah. He said ‘I don’t give a f–k no more man.”

While players have been allowed four guests each since the conclusion of the first round of the playoffs — a figure that can reportedly be exceeded for children — ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith marked his skepticism over the bubble’s strict rules back in June.

“Do we really think the ‘recreational activities’ that these guys are accustomed to are going to be compromised for three months?… You really, really think they’re honoring a bubble for three months?”

And back in July, The Athletic’s Marcus Thompson said on the site’s “The Athletic NBA Show” podcast that players were already finding creative ways to circumvent their lack of romantic visitors.

“From what I was told people are already working around it. You can’t have family but you can have a trainer or a massage therapist. So what I’ve been told is that there have been some pretty hot massage therapists come though. There’s a couple trainers who you know…they’re a backdoor is what I’m saying.”

The bubble resumes tonight with the Lakers and Nuggets facing off in Game 3 of the Western Conference Final.
