Man allegedly stabbed girlfriend to death in front of her daughter

A maniacal boyfriend used a kitchen knife to butcher his girlfriend to death in front of her horrified teen daughter — then sliced open his own abdomen in the frenzy, officials said.

Carmelo Mendoza, 41, of Jackson Heights, got into a heated argument with Yaqueline Collado, 45, on July 3.

Collado told her 19-year-old daughter, who lived with them, to go to her room so she would not have to witness the furious exchange, according to the Queens district attorney’s office.

From her room, the daughter heard her mother screaming her name. She rushed to her side then watched in terror as an enraged Mendoza repeatedly stabbed the woman in the chest, neck and torso, authorities said.

The daughter desperately tried to stop Mendoza’s frenzied assault, throwing objects at him and trying to push him off of her mother. Mendoza fell to the floor, but he immediately got back up and allegedly continued stabbing Collado.

“I’m dying, leave!” the mother allegedly wailed in Spanish to her daughter, who then raced from the apartment and began frantically banging on her neighbors’ doors, begging for help.

The young woman, whose own leg was slashed when she tried to intervene, called her boyfriend, then 911.

Responding officers came upon a grisly crime scene. Mendoza was slumped over Collado, the pair in a pool of blood, and a kitchen knife nearby.

Mendoza and Collado were rushed to a Queens hospital. Collado, who sustained 14 knife wounds, was pronounced dead. Mendoza is being treated for self-inflicted lacerations to his abdomen, officials said.

Mendoza, who is currently in the hospital, is awaiting arraignment on charges of murder, assault and criminal possession of a weapon. If convicted, he faces up to life in prison.
