This divided house is standing just fine.
A Massachusetts couple has put up dueling “his and hers” presidential election yard signs — but say their difference in political opinion isn’t affecting the state of their union.
Rocky and Tilda DiRocco, of Abington, said they decided early on in the 2020 campaign that there was nothing wrong with a little disagreement, local outlet WCVB-TV reported.
“What’s more important than politics is our relationship,” said Rocky, a President Trump supporter.
Tilda, his wife of 34 years, backs Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden.
To express their support, each of them have placed campaign signs in their yard, with the Trump sign saying “his” and the Biden sign saying “hers.”
“He does everything different and it drives people nuts,” Rocky said of Trump. “They want him to behave a certain way.”
“Well, he’s the president. He should be presidential,” Tilda shot back.
The couple has already cast their votes and said they each will accept the eventual winner — they just want election season to be over.
“I just want to go back to normal, where people aren’t going nuts with each other,” Tilda said.
They hope their story will show others that it’s possible to rise above partisan politics.
“I wish they would take this message to Washington and realize there is something more important than winning for your party,” Rocky said.
“Try winning for your people. They’ve completely lost sight of that.”
