Max Verstappen Not Changing His Approach: “Was Never an Issue Anyway”

Max Verstappen Recalls Childhood Weekend Getaways With Mick and Michael Schumacher

Max Verstappen is the primary contender for toppling Mercedes off the top of the podium. To prepare for the new F1 season, the drivers train very hard over the winter break to get stronger and physically fit to help their new campaign.

It is understandable to assume that the Dutchman is working really hard to take the fight to Valtteri Bottas and Lewis Hamilton this season. However, in a recent interview, the Red Bull driver shared that he is relaxed for the 2021 season.

“I don’t necessarily have to get stronger or fitter. I think that was never an issue, anyway. Yeah, I’ve always felt good.”

“I think of course with my age you get a little better and stronger because you just grow up and you know how old you are before it goes down again. But it is not decisive in terms of performance,” said the Red bull driver.

The Dutchman has proved his race craft skills and showed his talent over the years. He is a proven race winner and is gunning hard for the title of the world champion. With less than a month to go for the 2021 season, the Red Bull driver clarifies his primary goal.

“Looking back at the races, analyzing the weekends and things like that. Sometimes you can see things looking back on the race, but you also hear what other teams say.”

“It’s never good enough. Every year you have to improve again, try to be even better in qualifying, to be even more consistent in the race, to use the tires even better, to tune the car even better,” he explained.

However, the driver also acknowledges that it is a natural process. This season around, the Dutchman will have the highest number of races to chase down the Silver Arrows on the grid. The 23-race calendar is going to be the most expensive and longest in the sport’s history.

Verstappen ended the last season with a big win. He will hope to continue the momentum to this season and hopefully get on top of the podium more often. Do you think Verstappen will claim more wins this season?
