Netflix rumored to be working on 'Spatial Audio' for AirPods users

Netflix is rumored to be working on “Spatial Audio” support for AirPods users.

Spatial Audio is what Apple calls its AirPods’ immersive sound feature.

It works by using sensors and directional audio to track where your head is in relation to the device you’re listening to the content on.

It essentially creates an immersive sound experience.

This is good when you’re watching a film or TV as you can sense the direction of the sound as if you were in the film or TV series yourself.

To take advantage of Spatial Audio on AirPods when watching TV you’ll need to watch content from a platform which supports it.

Currently, those platforms are Apple TV, Disney+ and Hulu.

Now it seems Netflix wants to join that list, according to an anonymous source.

SlashGear reported that the source said Netflix has been working on enabling Spatial Audio for AirPods since December.

Rumors suggest the feature could be ready by Spring 2021.

The feature probably won’t be available for all content, though.

You’d also need AirPods Pro or AirPods Max to take advantage of it.
