Nick Bosa injury update: 49ers confirm defensive end has torn ACL

49ers star defensive end Nick Bosa has a torn ACL and will miss the remainder of the NFL season.

Bosa, 22, was injured during the 49ers’ costly 31-13 victory over the Jets on Sunday at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. The team confirmed Monday evening, after receiving the results of MRI scans, that the 2019 Pro Bowler suffered the tear.

The 49ers later confirmed that defensive tackle Solomon Thomas also suffered a torn ACL. Bosa, Thomas, quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo and running back Raheem Mostert were among the key players hurt in the 49ers’ win.

Bosa had 47 tackles, nine sacks and an interception as a rookie last season in helping the 49ers advance to Super Bowl 54, where they lost to the Chiefs. He was voted NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year.

San Francisco is 1-1 to begin the 2020 season. It will return to MetLife Stadium on Sunday to face the Giants.
