A Manhattan man suspected of stabbing his girlfriend to death called authorities and vowed to end his life — but not before “killing and shooting some cops,” police said.
Joshua Martinez is a suspect in the slaying this week of his girlfriend, Carol Nystrom, who police said was fatally stabbed some time between Sunday and Thursday inside her apartment at 420 West 206th St. in Inwood, authorities said.
Cops discovered her body Thursday following a wellness check.
On Saturday, a caller police believe was Martinez, 33, rang the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers hotline and threatened to shoot officers so he could die by cop, a department spokesman said.
“He called in and said he is planning on killing himself by shooting and killing some cops,” the spokesman said.
Nystrom’s Facebook page features a backdrop of butterflies, the beach and flowers. She listed her hobbies as “advocating equality and justice for all, photographing graffiti and urban life.”
Martinez is 5’6″ and weighs 165 pounds and was last seen wearing a gray Yankees jersey. He is known to frequent areas in and around Washington Heights and Inwood, cops said.
