Well-known television star and racer Jessi Combs passed away on Tuesday in a jet car crash while trying to beat her own land speed world record in Oregon’s Alvord Desert. She was 39 years old.

Combs, titled as the ‘fastest woman on four wheels,’ set a women’s land speed record back in the year 2013. She hit the record-breaking number at almost 393 mph by driving the North American Eagle. Later, she beat her own speed record in the year 2016 at 440 mph.

Both of these achievements were performed on the Alvord Desert’s dried lake bed. Previous year’s attempt to beat her own record ended quite prematurely, though she managed to arrive at 483 mph before mechanical troubles.

During Tuesday’s attempt, Combs was trying to beat her 2016 world record, which required her to break land speeds at 512 mph.

Just a few days ago, Combs had shared an image of her along with the speed car on Instagram as the team prepared for this recent world record.

Combs’ demise was confirmed by her love, Terry Madden. He shared the sad news of Combs’ tragic accident through his Instagram handle on Wednesday.

So I don’t know how to say any of this but it all needs said. I have never loved or been loved by anyone as much as this amazing woman @thejessicombs she was truly my unicorn and I enjoyed every single minute that I had with her. She was the most amazing spirit that I have ever or will ever know. Unfortunately we lost her yesterday in a horrific accident, I was the first one there and trust me we did everything humanly possible to save her!! I’m not ok, but she is right here keeping my going-I made her a promise that if this didn’t go well that I would make sure and do good with it, please help me with that, you are all going to see things on news please believe non of them.. we the family have drafted a release and it will come out today with more proper info, but I was just woke up by the media tracking me down and I need everyone of her true friends to do what she would want “take a deep breath, relax” and do good things with this. Please donate to nothing, I know there will be people try, we are finishing the documentary as she wished and the world will know the truth and her foundation will use those funds to do amazing things in this world and make her legacy live on properly. In the coming days her family and I will get the proper channels put together that you can then donate to that foundation but until you hear it from me wait please-I don’t want some asshole profiting off this (all ready had one try to sell us a video)… . . Love you all and thank you all for being such amazing friends to her, she dedicated her life to helping support others dreams and I promise I will continue that.

Combs wasn’t just a fast, competitive racer but was also a skilled fabricator and builder. Besides, she was also seen often on television, appearing as the host of shows like ‘Overhaulin’’ and ‘All Girls Garage.’ She even hosted a season of the show ‘Mythbusters.’

She was an impressive power in motoring and racing regardless of gender. Being a woman, she accomplished everything despite the resistance of the so-called male-dominated society. Jessi Combs was a role model for the other women who dreamt of achieving something in motorsport.

In a statement, her family said that a celebration of Combs’ life is being planned. Besides, a foundation is also being created to continue Combs’ efforts to empower young girls and women to fulfill their dreams.

German DJ Zedd banned from China

Zedd, an international high-profile music producer, and DJ claimed that he has was banned permanently from China over liking a Twitter post of adult animated sitcom ‘South Park.’

Zedd tweeted and shared the sad news on Thursday.

Adam Guest, Zedd’s senior publicist, confirmed the ban claim to CNBC on Saturday however refused to comment anything further. It’s not clear currently if this means that the German musician now has a ban on his trips to China. Zedd’s songs were yet available to stream on QQ Music, Chinese freemium music streaming service as of Saturday morning.

The tweet which landed Zedd into trouble was posted by ‘South Park’ celebrating the show’s 300th episode. The rift between the sitcom’s creators and Beijing started the previous Wednesday after they aired one episode called Band in China.

In that episode, character Randy attempts to sell cannabis to China and ends up in a workcamp. Randy encounters another political prisoner, Winnie The Pooh at the workcamp who made physical differentiations to Xi Jinping, Chinese President.

Meanwhile, the other characters of the show, Jimmy, Stan, Butters, and Kenny created a new metal band. This grabbed the attention of one Hollywood manager that always wanted to make a film about them. However, he modified the film’s script constantly for it to get distributed across China.

The episode stirred controversy and rage from Beijing as it poked fun at China’s strict censorship regulations. Beijing, in turn, responded by censoring ‘South Park’ content on its internet search engines such as Baidu. Besides, the Chinese government also axed the show’s clips and episodes from video streaming services like Youku.

The controversy went on after Matt Stone and Trey Parker, the creators of the show issued their ‘apology’ to China on Monday.

Zedd made an announcement about his ban from China just days after.
