Suspect hit multiple times after shooting Kendall County deputy along I-10 near Boerne

OERNE – A man was shot several times after shooting a Kendall County Deputy at the conclusion of a high-speed chase on Thursday morning.

The incident happened at about 9:30 a.m. along I-10 at exit 529, which is between Boerne and Comfort. The westbound lanes of I-10 are closed until further notice at mile marker 533, the agency posted on Twitter.

Police said they were responding to a call for a disturbance involving a weapon. When they arrived on scene, they saw a man chasing another man while holding a rifle or a shotgun. The suspect drove past the officers and continued to flee, leading them on a high-speed chase. The suspect pulled off the highway and ran with his gun and fired the weapon toward Boerne Police officers and Kendall County Sheriff deputies, who also joined the chase.

Officers and a deputy returned fire and struck the suspect multiple times.

One deputy was shot in the arm, but was released after receiving treatment. No Boerne Police officers were injured.

The suspect was flown to a San Antonio hospital for treatment for his gunshot wounds. The case is still under investigation
