After Twitch star Amouranth was banned from the social media site in the wake of her promotion of a raunchy and bizarre “meta” involving an ASMR-microphone, yoga pants and licking sounds, she received a huge boost to her OnlyFans subscriber total, Dexerto.com reports.
Indiefoxx, another popular young female influencer, was also canceled in Twitch’s efforts to clean house over the sexually suggestive “meta.”
Kicking Amouranth off the site was quite the bold move on Twitch’s part, considering the youngster was the second-most followed female follower on the site.
She was also often the source of new “metas.”
As the second-most followed female streamer on Twitch, Amouranth is often at the center of new Twitch ‘metas’ – previously the hut tub meta, and more recently, the ASMR ‘licking’ meta.
The meta that got Amouranth kicked off the site involved Twitch users donning yoga pants and making licking sounds into a ASMR-specific microphone. Higher-ups’ decision to eject her from the site only boosted her popularity on OnlyFans, it seems, since her fans suddenly needed a new way to find her.
The ban went into effect on June 18.
Twitch leaders previously took action to snuff out the hot-tub meta, which enjoyed extraordinary popularity.
The Verge reports that Twitch didn’t even warn Amouranth before they snatched away her right to run ads on the site.
Twitch has removed the ability for Kaitlyn “Amouranth” Siragusa, one of the most popular streamers on its platform, to run ads on her videos — even though it’s unclear that she broke any of the site’s rules. Siragusa said in a tweet that it’s because her streams are “not advertiser friendly.”
Amouranth said that her ban on Twitch over the microphone meta led nearly 600 people to sign up for her OnlyFans.
That was in only the first couple of hours following the ban.
OnlyFans allows users to charge subscription fees to access what is usually DIY sexually explicit content.
Insider reports that Amouranth boasted 2.8 million followers on Twitch and frequently had more than 10,000 concurrent viewers.
Over the last two months, she has often streamed while wearing a bikini in a premium inflatable hot tub and writing the names of people who donate to her channel on her body. This style of streaming is an embrace of the “hot tub meta” trend, in which streamers broadcast live from hot tubs or small pools.
While Amouranth is basking in the adulation of her OnlyFans followers, Indiefoxx has largely remained zip-lipped about her own ban from Twitch over the microphone meta.
She simply joked that she was taking the “weekend off” from the site.
IndieFoxx also quipped that she and Amouranth would go for a spa day together.
The BBC reports that after she had her ad privileges revoked by Twitch, Amouranth tweeted: “Twitch didn’t reach out in any way whatsoever.”
“This is an alarming precedent and serves as a stark warning that although content may not ostensibly break community guidelines or terms of service, Twitch has complete discretion to target individual channels and partially or wholly demonetize them for content that is deemed ‘not advertiser friendly’,” she said.
