Video shows soccer pro speed off from cops

A wild new video shows New York soccer pro Zaire Bartley speed off from police in The Bronx when cops allegedly spotted live ammo in the car.

“Do me a favor, turn the car off. Turn the car off,” an officer says to Bartley after stopping the soccer pro for an expired plate on his 2017 BMW SUV Friday, according to a body camera video of the incident.

The 22-year-old midfielder, who played for New Amsterdam Football Club up until two weeks ago, can be heard telling the cop the car was not running.

The SUV had a temporary New Jersey license plate that expired in 2020 and its VIN number scratched off, the criminal complaint says.

According to the complaint, one of the officers saw one round of 9MM ammo in the back seat of the SUV while walking to the driver’s side window.

“Step on out for my partner real quick,” the officer says in the video.

Bartley then floors it, hits a police car and speeds down a block before jumping out of the SUV, according to the video.

“He’s out, he’s out,” the cop can be heard saying while giving chase.

The officer says in the criminal complaint he saw Bartley with a 9MM pistol as he stopped and crouched next to a car.

Cops later caught up to Bartley and found a black Walther 9MM on him with seven rounds, according to the complaint.

Bartley, a Bronx resident, was arraigned Saturday and let go on supervised release, court records show. He did not return calls for comment.

An unknown woman in the passenger seat during the traffic stop was not charged.

Police sources confirmed the body camera footage was of Bartley’s traffic stop.
