Rondale Moore and Adam Thielen are vying for the wide receiver role on your NFL fantasy team, and you can only pick one of the wideouts. So, who will make a better fantasy pick?
Ninth-year wideout Adam Thielen of the Minnesota Vikings is a better pick in Week 11 than the Arizona Cardinals’ dynamic threat Rondale Moore. Here’s why:
Why Adam Thielen is a better fantasy pick in Week 11 than Rondale Moore
The main reason Thielen should start over Moore is because of the worrying status of Arizona quarterback Kyler Murray. Murray missed Week 10 and is trending towards not playing in Week 11 against the San Francisco 49ers. If he is unable to play, there is a worry that the Cardinals will be shut down with Colt McCoy under center. Only DeAndre Hopkins and George Kittle (and possibly Marquise Brown depending on his status) are likely to see much of the ball in the passing game in that event.
Adam Thielen and the Minnesota Vikings will be up against the Dallas Cowboys, one of the better defensive teams of the past few years. However, Thielen could have some room to operate, as most of the Cowboys’ defense will set up to halt Justin Jefferson (the third-highest fantasy point scorer among wide receivers) and running back Dalvin Cooks. Hence, Thielen could do well in week 11, and is a safer option than Moore.
Rondale Moore is a year two pro out of Purdue University. Moore is a shifty wide receiver, and he uses his low center of gravity to bamboozle defenders and gain a few yards for his team. Moore is a fascinating fantasy prospect, and on another day, he might have gotten the nod.
The return of Marquise Brown to the Arizona offense throws further concern upon Moore’s fantasy outlook. DeAndre Hopkins is questionable for the matchup, but is widely expected to play unless there is a further setback. Week 11 just doesn’t seem like a great time to start Moore.
Rondale Moore and Adam Thielen’s key Stats
Rondale Moore and Adam Thielen are at significantly different phases of their careers. Moore is in his second season in the NFL and is not the key weapon in the Cardinals’ offense. Thielen is a chiseled veteran in his ninth season in the league. As WR2’s go, the VIkings have a gem and QB Kirk Cousins knows how to use him.
Moore has amassed a career stat line of 95 receptions, 849 passing yards, and two touchdowns in 21 regular-season games played for the Cardinals. Thielen has a career stat line of 507 receptions, 6,433 receiving yards, and 51 touchdowns in 127 regular-season games played for the Vikings.
